Justin Tomlinson MP tries to beat the cards in a game of 'Play Your Cards Right' at the Butterflies
Children's Centre opening
Justin Tomlinson MP today visited Butterflies Children’s Centre for their official opening fete to mark the opening of the centre’s new home in a purpose built extension to Abbey Meads Primary School.
The fete saw parents and children from around the area join in the activities and games to celebrate, with games like hook a duck, a Swindon Town penalty shoot out and guess the weight of the cake. There were stalls selling homemade cakes, books and jewellery as well as face painting.
Justin was joined by David Renard, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services as he had a shot at the penalty shoot out, tried a few games of ‘Play Your Cards Right’ and guessed the weight of the cake.
The new Centre was officially opened by author and storyteller Neil Griffiths. The purpose built extension brings together a number of services in one place, with room to provide additional services to children and parents such as midwife clinics, heath and behavioural support and play therapy.
Justin Tomlinson MP said “Having been the local councillor for Abbey Meads for ten years I am delighted to see the official opening of Butterflies’ fabulous new home. The Centre provides vital services to parents and children and I am sure local families will really benefit from the great new facilities. It is a testament to the brilliant job the staff are doing that parents are already queuing up to register their children at the new Centre.”
