Justin Tomlinson MP today joined pupils from Swindon Academy to announce the results of the election of their new Head Boy and Head Girl.
All morning, the whole school from the youngest member of the nursery to the oldest member of staff had been voting for who they wanted to take on the responsibilities associated with the role. From managing a team of prefects to being the public face of the school's pupils, the role has many jobs and all four candidates had been campaigning to prove that they were up to the challenge.
The four candidates that got the chance to campaign to the whole school were the finalists of the first round, in which lower 6th formers could apply, setting out why they'd be good at the role, before staff and then 6th form narrowed it down to a final 4. These 4 will form the Head Girl, Head Boy and two Deputies, having already proved to their peers that they have the committment and ideas to lead the school.
Announcing the result, Justin Tomlinson MP said "That the result is extremely close just proves that we have four extremely talented candidates, any one of whom would make an exellent leader for the school. Congratulations to Jake and Amber on being elected Head Boy and Head Girl, and I am sure that with your two fantastic Deputies, you will be a strong team to work hard for the school."
