Justin Tomlinson MP is shown some of the work of Equi=Media
Justin Tomlinson MP today took part in the Business Buddy Scheme organised by the Forum of Private Business as part of their 'Get Britain Trading' campaign. The FPB is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to help small businesses by providing advice and protection.
The national scheme aims to foster a greater understanding of small businesses among politicians, getting the two round the table to discuss successes and issues within the local economy and amongst local businesses. It gives businesses a chance to flag up barriers they are encountering and MPs the chance to hear first hand the issues pertinent to their local economies.
Justin Tomlinson MP was 'buddied' with Equi Media, a Swindon based media and marketing company specialising in online presence. The visit was a great opportunity to meet with this distinguished local employer and discuss their business and its challenges. Discussion covered issues surrounding EU directives on e-privacy as well as Swindon's merits as a great town to base a business and how it can attract more employers.
Justin Tomlinson MP said "As a former small business owner I meet frequently with businesses in Swindon, from small enterprises to the largest employers in the town. The buddying scheme is a great opportunity for MPs to see first first hand the challenges and opportunities facing their local businesses.
“I previously ran my own small printing and marketing company in Swindon, so I am delighted to be visiting the offices of Equi=Media, who operate in the same field. I will be listening very carefully to what they have to say and taking any information I can back to government.”
