Justin Tomlinson MP has today expressed support for the fellow local residents who dedicate some of their time to volunteer in Swindon.
Now in its 29th year, volunteering week gives us an opportunity to recognise and celebrate volunteers and the incredible contribution they make to us in Swindon. They are an essential part of any community, with many depending on their dedication, energy and hard work.
Justin regularly meets with local charities and the armies of dedicated volunteers that keep the doors open. He also works with the Volunteer Centre Swindon to encourage more people to take up volunteering; he is especially passionate about seeing more volunteers in sport.
Justin Tomlinson MP said:
“I often see firsthand the incredible dedication and work of many of Swindon’s volunteers; I visit charities, centres and meet with individuals who depend on the kindness and commitment of volunteers. They are an essential part of our community and it is right that we take this week to highlight the difference they make across the Town and Country.”
Speaking about Volunteers’ Week 2013, Justin Davis Smith, director of volunteering at NCVO said:
‘Please join us in saying thank you to the volunteers who make our society a better place, and in highlighting the many different ways that people can get involved.”
