Justin Tomlinson MP with Clivey volunteers and Nathan (centre)
Having heard only good things about the work the Clivey Project does with Swindon's young people, Justin Tomlinson MP dropped in to the Clivey's Youth Information Cafe on Cricklade Road to see for himself the support they provide.
The Youth Information Cafe is open Monday-Thursday 5.30-8pm for young people to drop in on their way home from school or college. The Cafe provides internet access, but also a safe place where young people can spend time. The volunteers are around each evening to do activities with those that fancy it, whether it be art, crafts or cooking.
Justin sat and talked to Nathan, who often pops in on his way home from school. They talked about football and politics, but Nathan also talked about why the work of the Clivey makes such a difference.
Justin Tomlinson MP said "I really enjoyed my visit to the Clivey to see the support they provide. The relaxed and informal approach really seems to work. The young people I spoke to had a real affection and respect for the staff at the Clivey and also the Cafe itself. They clearly seem to enjoy visiting and appreciate the opportunity to have somewhere they can go, this is exactly what youth support should be about. I am hugely impressed and I will be doing all I can to support the Clivey in the future."
