Justin Tomlinson MP Visits DHL Express In Swindon

Justin Tomlinson MP with Centre Manager, Jason Williams

Justin Tomlinson MP today visited DHL Express in Swindon to discuss the Centre’s role in the wider DHL business and the local issues the business encounters.

DHL Express moves 130,000 packages a day in the UK, 2000 of which are handled through Swindon, keeping the 22 full time staff busy and making DHL Express one of Swindon’s key employers. Covering Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire, the Swindon Centre is in the top 5 performing centres in the UK.

Justin met with the Centre Manager, Jason Williams and Public Affairs Manager Charles Allen to talk through the issues DHL encounter on a day-to-day basis. From potholes and access to the A419 to the knock on effects of the Olympics, the visit was a great opportunity to raise the problems that impact on DHL’s business.

Justin then had a tour of the Centre, seeing the processes by which parcels are receives, processed and then shipped out.
Justin Tomlinson MP said “I think it important in Swindon to visit as many businesses and key employers as possible to discuss any issues they’ve encountered so we can make Swindon as business friendly as possible, attracting investment and jobs.

“I was delighted to visit DHL. To post something in Swindon and for it to be across the world by the next day is no mean feat and I was fascinated to see the processes in place and the resources required to achieve that.”
