Justin Tomlinson MP Visits Intel In Swindon

Justin Tomlinson MP with (L to R) Peter Gibson (Intel, Global Public Policy), Tristan Wilkinson
(Intel, Sales and Marketing), Danny Arati (Intel, Corporate Affairs Group),
Graham MacDonald (Intel Global Public Policy)

Justin Tomlinson MP today visited Intel’s Swindon base to meet with their public policy team. The team presented a broad overview of the structure of Intel as an organisation, its markets and its products. The meeting was a fantastic opportunity to discuss the key role of the Swindon site - and its cutting edge High Performance Computing Lab - within Intel, as well as the outreach work Intel does in Swindon and the UK.

Justin was particularly interested in their extensive intern programme that takes students from surrounding universities for 14 month placements, giving them a fantastic opportunity to gain industry experience and boost their skills. Intel also have a significant role in education, most recently helping take the Bloodhound project to break the land speed record to schools around the country.

Justin Tomlinson MP said “The work Intel does in education to get kids inspired by science is fantastic. Something like the Bloodhound project is a great way to bring science alive, getting kids to take science subjects at university and securing Britain’s reputation for being at the cutting edge of scientific research and technology.  In building a new economy, innovation and development will be key to driving growth.”
