Justin Tomlinson MP with Studio Director Miles Jacobson OBE
Justin Tomlinson MP today visited Sports Interactive’s offices in Old Street, London, which is where the award winning Football Manager is produced. Justin is the Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Video Games Industry.
Justin met Miles Jacobson OBE who is the Studio Director at Sports Interactive to ask him questions about the gaming industry, the challenges and opportunities that this industry is facing and then to have a tour of the famous studio.
Together with colleagues from the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment (UKIE), Justin discussed the need for pupils to learn computer coding at schools and the need for young people to be inspired to set up their own businesses and become the coders and leaders in the gaming industry in the future. Justin was able to use this information in a Westminster Hall debate on entrepreneurship the following Wednesday.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It was an honour to visit the very successful offices of Sports Interactive today and to meet Miles. We had a very useful discussion which will be useful for me to lobby Ministers to get the right skills taught in schools. I also enjoyed touring the offices and meeting everyone who works on Football Manager. When Miles says that every player has his own way of playing Football Manager, I can see what he means by the level of detail that the programmers include in this very popular game, with over 1 million units sold per year, Miles and everyone at Football Manager deserve every accolade that comes their way.”
