Justin Tomlinson MP today visited TBG Learning in Swindon to see the work they are doing in supporting the unemployed back into work.
The not-for-profit organisation delivers the Government’s new Work Programme in Swindon. Launched in Summer 2011, the Work Programme aims to provide an integrated package of support with personalised help tailored to the individual’s needs. Companies like TBG are paid only if they get people back into long-term sustainable employment.
Justin Tomlinson MP discussed the help TBG provide with staff and advisers and also met with a customer to speak to her about her experiences searching for jobs.
The centre in Swindon currently deals with around 880 people, providing personal help with individual advisers, access to PCs to enable people to search for jobs and research for interview and also training sessions, from CV writing to improving self confidence. TBG also provide literacy, numeracy and ICT qualifications, helping those out of work to build up their CVs.
By focusing on tailored help and developing skills, those out of work are given the help they as individuals need to get back into long-term sustainable employment.

The Programme provides the targeted, personalised support as well as the critical skills and training people need to find long term sustainable employment. For too long we had the quick fix, I am pleased to see real investment in people to give them the skills and confidence to find a sustainable job.”
