Justin Tomlinson MP today visited McDonalds at the Northern Orbital to meet owner Paul Booth to discuss the new emphasis that the chain are placing on financial education for their staff.
Ahead of a new finance and money managment qualification that staff will be able to complete, Justin visited to see some of the finance resources already available to staff. This included a fun money managment/budgeting game that guides you through planning a party or a holiday and the different decisions that have to be made to stay within budget.
Justin Tomlinson MP, who chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group for Financial Education for Young Peopl, now the largest APPG in Parliament, said "I am really pleased to see McDonalds taking the initiative and recognising the importance of strong financial skills. They can see the benefit that it would bring to both their business and their staff and I am delighted to see money management tools being made accessible to staff ahead of a new financial education qualification to be launched later this year.
"I was really impressed by the overall resources and support in place for McDonalds staff and the opportunities that the firm provide."
