Justin Tomlinson Supports Calls For New Rail Line

Local MP, Justin Tomlinson, has backed calls for the re-opening of a rail line from Oxford to Bristol, via Swindon, in a move which it is hoped will boost the local economy and give commuters increased choice.

The plans, which have the support of ten MPs from across the region, will see the re-instatement of trains to serve the line from Bristol to Oxford and Bedford via Bath, Chippenham, Corsham and Swindon. The group of MPs met with the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin MP, to discuss the proposal to highlight the enormous benefit the implementation of the scheme could have across Wiltshire.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I am delighted to support this plan which will link Swindon directly to Oxford and Bristol; boosting our local economy and giving commuters greater choice. There is a coalition of MPs from across our region supporting this plan and it was an extremely positive meeting with the Transport Secretary, who understands the concerns of commuters”.
