North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, has joined volunteers from Swindon 105.5 and employees from Smiths News at the unveiling of Swindon 105.5's new mobile broadcasting unit.
The unit has been fully funded by Smiths News as part of their corporate responsibility programme, Community Link-Up, which supports local charities and community projects.
The new mobile broadcasting unit has been fitted with brand new electrical equipment to help Swindon 105.5 continue to raise its profile across the town and maintain its presence at certain event.
At the launch, Justin took the opportunity to thank Smiths News and praise the work that Swindon 105.5 does.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "I have long been a supporter of Swindon 105.5 community radio which does a fantastic job in providing great opportunities for people facing challenges, to volunteer at the studio and gain valuable experience. It also provides a fantastic broadcast service for everybody in our town. Most of this work is down to the handwork and dedication of Shirley Ludford who does an invaluable job as station manager. Smiths News deserve huge credit for their generosity and concentration on corporate social responsibility; I hope other businesses will take note of how crucial it is to support the local community."
