Local MP, Justin Tomlinson, was delighted to see the new nursery facilities at Swindon Academy last week, ahead of the official opening on Wednesday 8th July.
The nursery for two-year olds will see the Academy massively increase the size of its nursery provision - eventually extending to provide up to 160 places.
Justin was given the opportunity to see the brand new site, which was formally the old staff room, as well as the outdoor play facilities which have been designed and constructed in consultation with current nursery pupils who gave input as to what they would most like to see in the outdoor play area.
The visit also gave Justin a chance to drop by and say hello to pupils in the senior school, including visiting a Year 8 Maths class, a Year 9 Geography class and a dance class, as well as viewing the extremely impressive art and music facilities - including a state of the art recording studio.
The tour was a great chance for Justin to catch up with Principal, Ruth Robinson, and Sir Anthony Greener, Chair of the Local Governing Body, to discuss the exciting initiatives which the Academy hopes to pursue in order to provide a bright future for both current and prospective pupils.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "I was thoroughly grateful to be one of the first to visit the fantastic new nursery facilities at Swindon Academy. It was really great to see that the youngsters had been involved in the design process of the new play area and I am sure that once opened, there will be a lot of happy memories created there. It was also great to catch up with Ruth and her team who are a great asset to the Academy. They are full of new, exciting ideas for the future of the school and as the MP, I am very happy to support them at every stage."
