North Swindon MP visited upcycling charity to see the work it is doing to support people in Swindon.
Justin visited Upcycle Swindon at its Techno Park Trading Estate facility to meet staff and volunteers and learn more about the work it does to provide employment for vulnerable people and affordable household goods.
The project has various main strands: Reselling household items which have been donated at affordable prices. Upcycling items of furniture to sell in our showrooms. Training young people (NEETs) with the skills needed for full time employment. Providing maximum positions of paid employment and volunteer opportunities for those who have disabilities, are disadvantaged, or would struggle to maintain regular employment.
The funds raised from the sales of furniture are used to create paid employment positions for individuals that need extra support in getting into work.
Justin Tomlinson said: Absolutely brilliant to see Upcycle Swindon take over their new unit at the Techno Industrial Estate. I was really impressed by the facility and the job the team are doing. Throughout my time as an MP I have been passionate about providing employment opportunities for young people and people with disabilities – so I am very pleased to be able to support Upcycle and the work it is doing on the issue.”
