Last Friday, Justin was delighted to visit the Neuro Wellbeing Centre in the Westmead Industrial Estate.
Originally starting out as the Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis, founded in 1981 as a self-help group, and then became a registered charity in 1983, it has steadily grown since.
Recently rebranded, the Neuro Wellbeing Centre is an inclusive wellbeing Centre dedicated to helping people lead happy, healthy, independent lives.
As a fully accessible centre, it is the only facility of its kind within 35 miles, welcoming people from Swindon, North Wilts, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire - and provides practical support and therapy opportunities. Some of the services they offer include oxygen therapy (which is not routinely available through the NHS).
They are a self-funded charity that does not routinely receive any statutory funding, so need to actively seek partnership, grant and funding opportunities to cover their running costs each year. The Centre does not seek to make a profit on services or therapies provided, but asks for a contribution towards covering our costs.
On this visit Justin met with the CEO, Beth Gardner, and the Communications and Engagement Manager, Debi Isaac-Taylor, to discuss the great work the Neuro Wellbeing Centre are doing supporting their patients and discuss potential ways to increase their fundraising to ensure they can keep doing the great work they are doing year after year.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was a pleasure to visit the recently rebranded Neuro Wellbeing Centre – building on the wider work and support offered from their Swindon MS Therapy origins. Their cutting edge facilities and wonderful staff and volunteers continue to make such a difference to local families and further afield, supported by their members and wider fundraising. I and all of Swindon are proud to support this fantastic charity."
