Justin Visits Ruskin Junior School To Meet Students & Headteacher

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has visited Ruskin Junior School to meet with Headteacher Mr. Brendell and see for himself the work the school was doing.

Justin received a tour of the school, taking in the sports halls and pitches, the outdoor classroom, and the impressive Harry Potter themed library.

As part of the visit, Justin also had the opportunity to discuss his ideas for school sports with the students.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It’s good to see that Ruskin is providing a good environment for their pupils. The ancient Egyptian display was excellent, with a wide range of skills being displayed. The upcoming dance studio will be a great addition to the school, and the fact that this could be open for children outside of term time would be incredible, and would keep our children healthy.”

Also joining Justin on the visit was Lewis Gibson, who had been taking part in work experience at Justin’s community office. Here he describes the visit:

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson visited Ruskin Junior School, and spoke with Mr Beadnell, the head teacher.

After a meeting, they toured the school, visiting the Egyptian Museum, a display of Year 3 students’ work. This was displayed in the room that, come September, will be transformed into a dance studio.

Justin then visited the astroturf pitch and spoke with the head about Ruskin’s recent sporting success, with numerous victories for both the boys’ and girls’ teams across all sports. Justin has recently been advocating for money from the so-called sugar tax to go into funding keeping school sports facilities open in the holidays and after school hours, with the aim of keeping kids healthy, and he brought this idea up with the head teacher.
