Justin Celebrates Another Successful Summer Activities Fair

Families enjoyed the sunshine as they visited North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson’s Summer Activities Fair.

Now in its third year, the event is an opportunity for local groups and organisations to showcase the activities they have offer families, and also provides parents with options for activities to keep children entertained during the summer holiday.

This year’s Fair was the most successful yet, with scores of families turning up to the Orbital Shopping Park to see what the various organisations had to offer and try their hand at a variety of fun activities.

Visitors took part in penalty shootouts provided by Draycott Sports Camps and Swindon Hockey Club, played video games from the Computer Museum’s collection, and decorated biscuits provided by Girlguiding. There were a number of attractions for families to see, including Swindon Robins’ speedway bike and Swindon Library’s book bike – both of which were very popular.

Other organisations present at the event included: Rockstar Climbing, Swindon Wildcats, Swindon Cricklade Railway, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Wims11 Football Academy, Junior Parkrun, and Total Guide to Swindon

British Land, who run the Orbital Shopping Park, were also kind enough to provide free face-painting for the children.

The feedback from the event was very positive, with parents saying they appreciated seeing organisations they might not have heard of before.

Cllr Vinay Mano, who attended the fair with his two daughters, said “Since going to the Activities Fair and having a go at hockey, my daughter can’t stop talking about it.”

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I was delighted to see so many families turn out to the fair and provide such positive feedback. There was a real buzz at the event, and I hope many children were inspired to pick up a new hobby.”
