North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has welcomed the news that Panattoni's £700 million Redevelopment of the old Hoda site was has been given permission.
Honda left the site in 2021 after 36 years in Swindon, and a year later the site was brought by commercial real estate developers Panattoni.
The plans will see the site receieve £700 million in investment over the next five years, and will see aound 0.25 sq miles (670,000 sq m) of employment space added to the Swindon economy. It is hoped that the redevelopment will generate £295m for the local economy each year, as well as create 7,000 jobs in Swindon.
Justin Tomlinson said: "This is a real credit to Swindon Borough Council, as developments of this size are not a given. It is this pro-business investment attitude which has already seen Swindon secure an additional 12,000 jobs since 2010, and this £700 million investment will potentially create a further 7000 jobs in the coming years"
