North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has welcomed an extra £15 billion package of support to help families across Swindon with rising costs and their energy bills – ramping up direct Government support to a huge £37 billion package of cost of living support.
Due to a series of global forces, families and businesses are being hit with everyday price rises – to tackle these price rises the Conservative Government have outlined their priority to help the millions of families struggling with the cost of living.
The £15 billion package of support announced today includes:
💷 The £200 of support for household energy bills already announced doubled to £400 for everyone.
♿ An extra one-off disability cost of living payment worth £150.
👵 Over eight million pensioner households who receive the Winter Fuel Payment will receive an extra one-off pensioner cost of living payment of £300.
🏘 A one-off £650 cost of living payment directly to around eight million of the lowest income households.
⛽ A targeted Energy Profits Levy charged on profits of oil and gas companies at a rate of 25%.
Today’s support builds on a £22 billion package of support already in place to help families combat global cost of living pressures, bringing the total amount of support to £37 billion
