Justin Welcomes Local Samaritans To Community Office

The Swindon & District branch of the Samaritans undertook their volunteer training in Justin Tomlinson MP’s community office at the weekend.

The charity listens by providing a phone service, e-mail, SMS and face to face as well as working across local communities to help vulnerable, higher risk individuals.

In Swindon and across Wiltshire, the Samaritans receive thousands of calls for help and they are exceptionally active across the whole of the community. The training undertaken at the weekend will help volunteers continue the excellent support they provide to people in Swindon and wider afield as well.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I was glad that the Samaritans were able to use my community office space to undertake training over the weekend. The Samaritans are available 24 hours a day to provide emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of emotional distress or despair. They provide an absolutely essential service for our community which often goes underpraised.”
