North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson recently sat down with the newly appointed managing director of Swindon Bus Company Andrew Sherrington to discuss various topics related to public transport in Swindon.
Swindon Bus Company, part of the Go South Coast Group, and formerly Thamesdown Buses are the largest bus operator in Swindon, while Stagecoach is the other major operator in the town.
Mr Sherrington and the North Swindon MP discussed the Governments fare cap which has recently gone into effect, the push for digitisation within the industry, driver recruitment, and numerous ideas for promotions that could increase bus users in Swindon. Alongside these discuss points came a general agreement to review the services across North Swindon to optimise passenger satisfactions, as well as the eventual plans for services once the transport hub in the Town Centre at Fleming Way is completed.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "I was delighted to meet Andrew this morning and have a productive and thorough conversation about bus services across North Swindon and the successful rollout of the £2 fare cap at getting people journey into our Town Centre."
