Justin Tomlinson MP recently welcomed a group of Swindon Academy students to Parliament for a tour of the House of Commons and a Q&A session.
The group of students were keen to see where MPs work and also to grill Justin on a range of issues that they felt were particularly important.
Joined by the South Swindon MP Robert Buckland and his encyclopedic knowledge of Parliament's history, the group had an extensive tour of the Commons, Lords and Westminster Hall. They saw where Charles I was sentenced to death, where the only Prime Minister ever to be assassinated was shot, and where the suffragette chained herself to a statue in protest for the right to vote.
They then had the chance to grill Justin on any issue that they were particularly interested by. Students raised everything from gay marriage to jobs for young people, from immigration to Swindon Town Centre and had the chance to discuss such issues with Justin.
Justin Tomlinson MP said "I am always delighted to welcome constituents to Westminster and I particularly enjoy having school groups down. It is always fun to discuss the issues that matter with young people as they are the next generation and it is important that their voices, ideas and opinions are heard."
