Justin Welcomes Vital Stamp Duty Changes At Opening Of Castles Estate Agents

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has opened the new offices for Castles Estate Agents at Westcott House on Commercial Road in Swindon.

Castles Residential Sales & Lettings follows the local trend of business growth and expansion as more and more companies see Swindon as a desirable place to set-up shop and expand their business. Since 2010, there have been 5,345 business start-ups and local unemployment has fallen by over 50%.

The opening of the new offices came a day after welcome changes to Stamp Duty were announced by the Chancellor in his Autumn Statement.

The new Stamp Duty rates, which have been praised by Estate Agents across the country, are now payable only on the portion of the total value of the house which falls within each band. As a result, 98% of people who pay stamp duty will be better off, and people will save around £4500 when purchasing an average family home. Estate Agents, including Castles, have welcomed the news and hailed the announcement as a way of kick-starting the housing market.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "Castles provide an exceptional example of a local business which is supporting the local economy and creating more jobs by expanding and reaching its potential. Small businesses are vital to the growth of the UK economy and the property market is both a driver and barometer of progress. The growth of Castles Residential Sales & Lettings is an excellent example of what’s possible here in Swindon.”
