Local MP, Justin Tomlinson, has continued his long-standing support for Macmillan Cancer Support's by grabbing a cuppa at the Orbital Shopping Park's annual Coffee Morning.
The first ever Macmillan Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, we did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £138 million for Macmillan, including a record annual figure of £25 million last year.
Justin holds the record for the most Macmillan Coffee Mornings supported in one day by a single MP, when he took part in eight events last year.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "Macmillan do some truly amazing work and it is always a pleasure to support their work. Across the country people take part in a wide variety fundraising activities to support Macmillan, but the most popular and successful of these are the coffee mornings. Everyone loves a cuppa, a slice of cake and a chat, and it was fantastic to sit down with fellow local residents to support this fantastic cause. I'm aiming to beat my record next year!"
