Local MP, Justin Tomlinson has commended the ingenuity and dedication of the Swindon youth project BIOS, after attending the launch of the groups new mobile youth club alongside Cllr Toby Elliott.
BIOS aims to inspire young people to make the necessary changes to take control of their own lives and to encourage them to make positive life choices. The group provides mobile youth work sessions to young people who would not ordinarily have access to such facilities, using a converted supermarket delivery van. The van acts as a mobile youth club and provides sports equipment, refreshment facilities, games consoles, internet access, information services, music and mobile seating. Each week the team work with over 350 local young people.
Justin has worked closely with local company, Excalibur, who have provided vital funding for the mobile youth club and has also praised the involvement of Swindon and Wiltshire Police & Crime Commissioner, Angus Macpherson.
Justin Tomlinson said: "It is great to see such innovative ideas used to help young people in Swindon. The dedicated team at BIOS work hard to make a positive impact on the lives of so many, and these new methods allow them to reach a greater number of people in need. Their dedication to helping the young people of Swindon is truly remarkable!"
