Justin Tomlinson MP has celebrated the completion of the next phase of The Great Western Academy.
The North Swindon MP joined a delegation of school representatives, local councillors and representatives from BAM contractors to take part in the ‘topping out’ ceremony on the roof. The occasion marked the installation of the final beam at the top of the building which Justin was asked to fix in place.
The £21m Free School was announced in March 2015 after a long campaign by Justin, and is set to open in the Tadpole Garden Village area of town next September. Justin recently hosted a drop-in session at his community office for perspective students so that they could put their questions to the new school's headteacher.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “There is so much excitement in the community for this school, and I am delighted it is one step closer to opening its doors next year. The Great Western Academy is something Swindon can be really proud about, it’s a real showcase for the town.”
