Local MP Joins Residents For Launch Of Time Bank Big Lunch

Justin Tomlinson MP joined local residents in Penhill and Taw Hill for the Big Lunch celebrations of the Time Bank Penhill and Time Bank Taw Hill.

The Big Lunch is a national initiative to help bring communities together and meet neighbours for a lunch event who they may not ordinarily see.

Time Bank Taw Hill held its first big lunch at St Francis School, it was a great opportunity for everyone in the community to share food and meet new people. On offer in Taw Hill was sushi, Indian cuisine and plenty more! Residents also took the opportunity to share recipes.

Time Bank Penhill held a big lunch in partnership with community groups in the area such as the Penhill Haven, Health Ambassadors, Libraries, Residents associations and many more.  There were lots of activities throughout the day including seed planting, painting and pom pom making along with a fire engine where the kids could climb on board!

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "The Big Lunches are a fun way for the local community to not only meet our neighbours, but to share opportunities and challenges.  As an MP I have seen first-hand just how many issues can be resolved over a cup of tea, with everyone pulling in the same direction so it is great to see Swindon benefiting from these community events".
