Local MP Meets Barratt Homes To Discuss Their Work In Swindon

Justin Tomlinson MP has met with representatives of Barratt Homes at one of their latest developments which includes 74 new properties at Stratton Gate, just off Ermin Street in Upper Stratton.

During the meeting, Justin took the opportunity to discuss developments across North Swindon with Barratt, in particular, Swindon’s success in meeting the Government’s target on the number of new homes being built.

Justin hasn’t been shy in coming forward with resident’s concerns to developers, particularly on the quality of new build homes in Swindon, so was keen to discuss this as well as other issues relating to the housing market, including how we can get more youngsters to own their own home.

Stratton Gate’s design is in keeping with the nearby development at Kingsdown Park, which has been praised not only by Justin, but also the then Prime Minister David Cameron on a visit to the area to promote the Help to Buy scheme. The properties are some of the first completed homes in Swindon to take into account the most recent changes to planning laws by the Government.

As a result, the development has been made with ample parking and green spaces, a regular focus of people looking at homes in Swindon. In addition to both the sites off Ermin Street, Barratt has used nearby fields to develop sports training facilities and accompanying changing rooms for use of the local community, something which Justin is keen to ensure with all local developments.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “Swindon is leading the way when it comes to building the homes for the future. I was delighted to meet with Barratt to see some of these new homes, as well as raise concerns about my ongoing campaign to ensure high-quality new build homes. I will continue to work closely with developers so that new estates like this one will also see new infrastructure and community provisions provided, as part of the developers plans.”
