North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson met students at Cirencester College’s Finance Academy to discuss the importance of young people studying finance and increasing their employability. The Business and Finance Academy forms a part of the Career Ready Programme and works to help students develop career ambitions and employability skills.
As part of the programme students will take part in a series of masterclasses and workshops delivered with employers, focussing on skills such as CV writing, interviews and networking; face to face mentor sessions with an employer to help build career aspirations; have the opportunity to secure work experience and employer visits and seminars to share career experiences.
As a long-term champion of financial education, Justin was pleased to meet Beth, Peter, Anisha and Toby to hear about their studies and discuss ways they could improve their employability. Justin was impressed to hear about the internships they had secured in firms such as St. James Place Wealth Management and Capita.
Justin Tomlinson MP said “It’s absolutely great to see students taking the initiative to make themselves more employable and stand out from the crowd. Programmes such as the Career Ready Finance Academy, NCS and part-time jobs will help set these students apart and increase their chances of securing the jobs they want in the future. I wish them all the best and hope they find their summer internships rewarding.”
