Local MP Meets Swindon Citizens' Advice Bureau Team

Local MP, Justin Tomlinson, has paid a visit to Swindon's Citizens Advice Bureau to hear about the complex and challenging issues that they come across when assisting local residents.

The CAB as served the community of Swindon since 1939 and last year moved from its premises in Farringdon Road to the new Swindon Advice and Support Centre. The location includes a number of voluntary sector agencies which Justin has also visited, including Swindon Carers Centre, Swindon Mind, Healthwatch Swindon and the Wiltshire Law Centre.

The CAB has recently been granted a new 5 year contract from Swindon Borough Council to provide information and advice on a full range of topics and issues, together with providing specialist welfare benefits, immigration and money advice.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was great to catch up with the team at the CAB and hear about the main issues facing North Swindon residents. The cases they deal with are very similar to those that come through to my MPs office, so it was a valuable opportunity to ensure that residents are being offered the best service possible to navigate them through tough times. In the past my office has been trained to deal with certain cases by CAB workers so that we can help as many people as possible. As the local MP I hope to continue to work closely together so that we can help more people."
