Local MP On Target At Abbey Meads FC's Awards Evening

North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, was on hand to congratulate the young players of Abbey Meads Football Club at their annual awards ceremony held at MECA.

It has been a great season for the club which was founded in 2003, and has become one of the largest clubs in the North Wilts & Minor Football League, providing a great opportunity for local children of all ages to play football in a fun and safe environment.

Success this season have included the Under 11's FC Abbey Meads Rangers Division 3 Champions and the Under 13 FC Abbey Meads Youth Division 1 Champions. The biggest congratulations of the evening were saved for the FC Abbey Meads Under 14 girls who have completed a season treble; winning the league title, the cup and the champions league.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "I am exceptionally passionate about sports for young people. I believe that it provides teamwork, confidence and social opportunities, as well as the chance to allow youngsters to unlock their potential and enjoy a sense of personal achievement. I was delighted to celebrate all of the teams' successes of the season just gone, and to praise the fantastic work of the parents and volunteers who make all of it possible. The managers and coaches of the club also deserve significant praise for the hard work they put in; they really are local community champions."
