Local MP Praises Vital Role Of Small Businesses

North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, has highlighted the growing strength of small businesses across Swindon and the South West following a meeting in Parliament with the Federation of Small Businesses.

The FSB acts as the "trade body" for small businesses across England and Wales, allowing businesses and their owners the opportunity to share best practice and work together for change. The meeting provided MPs with the opportunity to hear more about the FSB's 'Voice of Small Business Index', which provides quarterly data on productivity, employment, pay, exports & growth.

Justin is a former small business owner and has actively campaigned for greater support for SMEs in Parliament via his role as a Regional Small Business Ambassador.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was fantastic to see from the FSB's latest statistics that our economy is growing and getting stronger. Productivity is up, employment is up, pay is up and so are exports and as a result, small businesses in Swindon and Wiltshire are benefiting from our strong economy and this Government's long-term plan to back SMEs. Small businesses are the cornerstone of economic growth and since 2010, almost 100,000 new businesses have been set-up across the South West"
