Local MP’s Office Holds Drop-In For Proposed New Swindon Museum & Art Gallery

This Wednesday (2nd August), there will be a public drop-in for the proposed new museum and art gallery in Justin Tomlinson MP’s community office: 1st Floor of the Customer Service Hub on the Orbital Shopping Park.

This new design will feature an iconic building to house Swindon’s museum and art gallery, which is currently located in the Old Town area of Swindon, in Apsley House.

The butterfly-shaped structure of the new building, which will house a nationally significant collection of modern art, is intended to become a focal point of the town’s new cultural quarter. Trustees and supporters hope it will become the most admired civic museum in the country, stipulating a public space dedicated to art, history and science, with a café and shop.

Costing £22 million, it will be on the site of the now demolished Wyvern car park and will continue Swindon Museum and Art Gallery’s aim to safeguard, enhance, exhibit and celebrate Swindon’s collections for now and in the future

The meeting will be an opportunity for the public to come in and ask questions about the new project, and provide information about what it entails. Please come along, between 3pm and 7pm on Wednesday to see the plans for yourself and ask any questions.
