Local MP Says The Time Is Now For Radiotherapy Centre In Swindon

Justin Tomlinson MP joined campaigners at the Great Western Hospital in order to launch the £2.9 million fundraising campaign for a new radiotherapy centre in Swindon.

The start of the campaign was marked by releasing 284 pink and orange balloons, symbolising every person diagnosed with cancer each month at the GWH. The hospital hopes to raise £2.9m million in the two-year appeal to pay for a dedicated radiotherapy centre. Brighter Futures, the fundraising arm of the Great Western Hospitals NHS Trust officially launched the bid, which could see long journeys for radiotherapy become a thing of the past.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "I am fully behind the move to bring a dedicated radiotherapy centre to Swindon. Both Robert Buckland and I have written to both the Health Secretary and the Chief Executive of NHS England to ask them to pledge their support to the excellent work already done by the Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group."
