Local MP Shows Support For Swindon Robins At Parliamentary Speedway Event

North Swindon MP and Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Speedway Group, Justin Tomlinson, has shown his support for the Swindon Robins at a reception in Parliament.

Speedway has long been integral part of Swindon's sporting presence and this season the Robins, based at Abbey Stadium in Blunsdon, were crowned Speedway GB Premiership Champions after an exciting final heat win. 

The local MP was joined for the event by Robins' Director Steve Parr, and prior to the event Justin re-iterated his desire to see a new, modern facility delivered at the Abbey Stadium site. Justin, who helped to save the original Abbey Stadium site as a councillor, is working with fellow Robins' fans to ensure the new stadium is delivered quickly. 

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "After another success season, I was delighted to champion the Robins' success in Parliament and it was great to talk to Steve about delivering the new Abbey Stadium. Like speedway fans from across our town, I want to see this brand new stadium (fit for champions!) delivered quickly so that the team and local residents can enjoy the benefits."
