Local MP Supports Swindon Supermarine Sports & Education Trust Quiz Night

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson entered an office team into the Swindon Supermarine Sports & Education Trust quiz night, in aid of their Walking Football Programme.

An addition to Justin’s team was Sana Mahmood, a work experience student from Ridgeway Sixth Form, who wrote the following article describing the evening:

The walking football team is an association for men and women aged 50 or over, seeking to help pensioners who suffer from mobility, fitness or health problems by participating in football, but at a slower pace. Having a game that is less likely of injury and risk is a great way to socialise and meet new people. The association have had a lot of success since being launched in October of 2014, with events taking place once every week with a high turnout.

The Walking Football Association hosted a quiz night event at the new Supermarine Trust Building, in aid of raising money for the charity. This was supported by the Swindon Supermarine Sports and Education trust. The evening was full of laughter, music and great food in which they raised a lot of money.

Justin and his team were very pleased to have been able to support the event.

Justin Tomlinson MP said “I am always happy to support local charities that keep people fit and active, regardless of their age. Walking Football is a fun way of exercising and it’s great to see so many people taking it up. Though we didn’t win, my team and I had great fun taking part in the quiz!”
