Local MP, Justin Tomlinson, has thanked charities in North Swindon for their hard-work and determination to champion good causes.
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations recently launched the 2014 UK Civil Society Almanac, which gives facts and stats on the voluntary sector, its size and scope, finances and the people that work and volunteer in it.
Across the UK, there are over 161,000 voluntary organisations with an income of £39.2bn and employing 800,000 people. In North Swindon there are 138 charities with a combined income of £465.9 million. Together those charities employ around 5,500 people.
Justin has worked with charities on a wide-range of issues and has helped a number of groups to receive additional funding and the support of new volunteers.
