Local MP Thanks North Swindon Residents For Generous Donations To Salvation Army Christmas Appeal

Justin Tomlinson MP has thanked local Swindon residents for their generosity in participating in his Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal.

Justin asked people at the beginning of November to donate new gifts for vulnerable young people who won’t be having the same happy time as most this Christmas.

Over the course of the past month, an amazing total of 76 separate gifts were donated to Justin’s office. These were dropped off at the Salvation Army over the weekend and they have sent the following message to everybody who donated:

So many thanks for your kind donation and you can be assured that they will go to good homes as we are in contact with the local social services who have knowledge of the children who will need them and we also know of some other families who will appreciate them very much. We pray you have a very Happy Christmas.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “Christmas for many of us is a time for spending time with our loved ones, enjoying the festive season and reflecting on all we have to be grateful for. But as we embrace good tidings, it is important to reflect on those who are less fortunate than ourselves at this time. This year millions of young people across the world will not wake up to presents, and this is made more unfortunate given that such a small act of kindness can result in making a young person’s Christmas truly special. It is for this reason that this year, I decided my office should take part in the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal. The generosity of people across Swindon never ceases to amaze me and I would like to say a huge thank you for all of those people who kindly dropped by my office to donate gifts. Their small kind act will really make a difference to somebody’s Christmas day.”
