Justin Tomlinson visited the ‘topping out’ ceremony for the Insurance Company at Zurich’s new office project ‘Unity Place’. The state of the art office is due for completion next Summer in 2022.
The office is a key pillar of the improvements being made in regenerating the Town Centre alongside our Borough Council. Artist Charlotte Kidger has been commissioned to produce exterior artwork that will reflect the focus onto community, sustainability and wellbeing. Similarly, this desire for sustainability will continue following its completion, as the building’s energy will be supplied by renewable sources, will be free of ‘single use plastics’ and aims to be completely paperless.
The new investment in by Zurich equates to over £8 million with regional suppliers. 30% of operatives inducted to date live within 25 miles of the new site. By the end of the project over more than 300 local people will have been employed in the completion of the site. This includes 21 sub-contracts, consultants and local suppliers.
Justin Tomlinson MP said:
“The major investment we are seeing in Swindon, including Zurich’s new office, is driving huge new opportunities for local jobs and boosting the local economy. Zurich’s investment is a massive show of confidence in the local economy, once again proving that Swindon is an economic powerhouse, whilst also reflecting the wider community’s focus on sustainability and wellbeing”.
