Swindon MPs, Justin Tomlinson & Robert Buckland, joined the General Manager and European Health and Safety Director of Patheon UK Ltd, on a tour of their large production site in Covingham & Dorcan last week.
Patheon is a global manufacturing company which provides services to the pharmaceutical industry. The Swindon site is a Centre of Excellence, which works with client partners to produce speciality pharma solutions, and employs over local 450 people.
Historically, the speciality of Patheon in Swindon has been to offer extensive development and commercial capabilities for sterile dosage forms including liquid dials and pre-filled syringes. During the visit, Justin and Robert had the opportunity to meet with employees and discuss the company's plans for the future of the site and the company's presence in Swindon.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was a great opportunity to visit the large Patheon site in Covingham. They have a proven track record of working in the pharmaceutical industry and currently provide 450 jobs locally. It’s good to see that US-based companies, like Patheon, are continuing to invest in the Swindon and it is excellent news that a new facility is set to open next year with new products; manufactured and launched locally."
