Local MPs Meet Swindon Older People's Forum

Swindon MPs, Justin Tomlinson and Robert Buckland, have joined members of the town's Older People's Forum at a meeting to discuss the Government's commitment to supporting people through retirement.

Swindon Older People's Forum is an independent, inclusive forum for discussion and debate on the issues and concerns of older citizens across the town. It is run by older people, for older people, and is independent of external influences. The group aims to ensure that those now in retirement have a louder voice, and an equal say, on matters which impact on their everyday lives.

During the meeting, members of the Forum had the opportunity to quiz the MPs on everything from roads and rail, to the future of the TV licence and bus passes. The discussion also focussed on the work that the MPs had done to secure a fairer state pension through the triple-lock guarantee.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It is always an absolute pleasure to meet with the Older People's Forum to discuss what steps the Government is taking to ensure those in retirement receive a fair deal and what more can be done. This discussion was incredibly productive and I look forward to meeting with group again in the near future!"
