Glorious sunshine greeted the Rotary Club of Swindon Dragon Boat Race at Coate Water on Sunday.
Dozens of teams lined up for the competition, set to raise money for various local charities, with the crowds lined up to cheer them on!
Justin Tomlinson MP and his wife Jo joined the Swindon Animal Asia team, helping to raise money for their very own rescue bear Zebedee.
Justin said, “It was great fun and we took part in three qualifying rounds, but unfortunately we didn’t make the final. I think our turn-up and row technique let us down!
It was a fantastic family event, thousands of people turned out for cheer on the teams. Thankfully none of the boats capsized but our team did get quite wet, with some co-ordination problems!
Fingers crossed all the teams were able to raise lots of money for their chosen local charities. In our case, we hope to have given a real boost to work of Swindon Animal Asia, who both sponsor their very own bear Zebedee, but also campaign against cruel Bear fighting and Bear bile farming.”
Congratulations to Feltham Construction, the eventual winners – blistering performances throughout the day!
