On Friday, Justin Tomlinson MP helped promote Sustrans' Cycle to Work campaign by joining local residents on a led bike ride from North Swindon to the town centre.
The ride took participants from ASDA Walmart at 7.30am, along National Cycle Network Route 45 and the Western Flyer cycle path, before finishing up at the railway station by 8.15am.
North Swindon resident Chris Hancox, who joined the ride, commented "This ride was a great way to discover the fantastic network of traffic-free cycle paths in North Swindon."
"I didn't realise just how easy it is to get from my house to the Orbital on a bike, or what a great route there is into town from there. It's so much better looking out for rabbits than road-rage!"
The event kick-starts a series of led bike rides organised by Sustrans, which will run throughout Bike Week, and gives locals the chance to get to know safe, traffic-free routes in the company of others.
Justin Tomlinson MP said "Any fellow North Swindon residents thinking about dusting their bikes off, I really urge them to do so. The route into town is leafy, relaxing and car-free, I can think of no better way to commute to the Town Centre this summer. These cycle trains are a great way to learn the route and meet some fellow cycling residents."
