Justin Tomlinson MP joined his friend and local businessmen, James Arkell, for a tour of the famous Arkell's Brewery at Kingsdown in Upper Stratton.
Arkell's Brewery was established in Swindon in 1843 by the Arkell family. They have run it ever since, passing the business down through several generations. It is Swindon's oldest established company and it runs almost 100 pubs in Swindon and surrounding areas including Oxford, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Newbury.
Justin was able to see the entire beer making process, right from the grain and hops coming through the front door, before leaving the brewery as some of our towns most popular beers and lagers.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "Swindon would not be the same without Arkell's. This family orientated business has provided some of our best loved pubs and beverages for centuries. It was great to see the new '1843' lager under production, and I was delighted to hear that my personal favourite - 'Bee's Organic Ale' - would be on tap in my local pub, the Tawny Owl, shortly!"
