Local MP and Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Speedway Group, Justin Tomlinson, has co-hosted a reception in Parliament to highlighted the resurgence in support for speedway.
Speedway has long been integral part of Swindon's sporting presence and this season the Robins, based at Abbey Stadium in Blunsdon, made it to the Elite League Semi-Finals. The Robins' recent success has led to plans to modernise and re-develop the Abbey Stadium site, increasing its community use.
Justin was joined for the event by Robins' by Team Manager & former rider, Alun Rossiter, and the team's co-promoter, Terry Russell.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "The Swindon Robins are an integral part of our town's sporting heritage. I've always been fascinated by the team's progress and am delighted to be able to have supported the side, first as Lead Member for Leisure during my time as a local councillor and now as MP through my role as the APPG Vice-Chair. The Robins were unlucky this season but I know Alun is already raring to go for next season in pursuit of Elite League success!"
