North Swindon MP Cuts The Ribbon On White Hart Pub Re-Opening

Local MP Justin Tomlinson was on hand to cut the ribbon at the opening of the impressive new hotel wing at the White Hart Pub on Oxford Road.

He was joined by members of the Arkell’s family as they celebrated Swindon’s newest hotel accommodation; a new 24-room, £1.4 million investment by Arkell’s Brewery. Leader of the Council David Renard and the town’s mayor were also in attendance, highlighting the importance of the investment into Swindon’s local economy.

The White Hart pub has a substantial history; first built in 1878, it was extended substantially in the 1920s, and now 100 years on the pub is still going strong.  The new hotel wing is set to cater for the many business people visiting Swindon each week, as well as those at the weekend who wish to visit the Designer Outlet Centre and many other local attractions.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I was honoured to be asked to open the new hotel at the White Hart, a great local pub which has a fantastic landlord and lady. As Swindon’s economy continues to grow, we are seeing an increased need for these sorts of facilities as more people are visiting and businesses are choosing to be based here. Special thanks goes to the Arkell family who continue to invest in Swindon and support our town. They are true local champions and I am very proud that Swindon is home to the wonderful Arkell’s brewery.
