Justin Tomlinson MP was the guest speaker at the quarterly SNAP (SN Action for Property) meeting held at the offices of Thrings Solicitors last week.
He was joined by leader of Swindon Borough Council David Renard, and Cabinet Member for Communities and Strategic Planning, Cllr. Toby Elliott.
SNAP is made up of a committee which includes representatives from Lloyds TSB, Beard, Savills, Kiew, Whitmarsh Lockhart, Hills, Forward Swindon and Thrings. The aim of the group is to ensure that Swindon meets its enormous potential as a thriving economic town by continuing to develop and expand. The events offer local professionals the opportunity to meet with important speakers, and discuss issues including property and promoting business.
Justin, along with David and Toby were able to update those who attended on Swindon’s local plan, as well as plans for further regeneration and development.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I was a councillor in the Abbey Meads ward for 10 years before becoming the North Swindon MP, so I know just how much Swindon has grown over the past few years. Unlike many local authorities, Swindon has succeeded in passing its local plan to develop thousands of more new homes over the next 20 years, thus unlocking future investment for infrastructure and improvements through the New Homes Bonus. We are also seeing plans for regeneration across our town, following on from the Regent Circus development, including plans for the bus station, the Kimmerfields site and the redevelopment of the Oasis. The future is certainly bright for Swindon.”
