Local MP, former business owner, and Small Business Ambassador, Justin Tomlinson MP, has spoken of the important role SMEs play in building a sustainable local economy at the launch of the WIN Swindon business group.
WIN Swindon has been set up by local training providers and business owners to allow small businesses to meet up, discuss their plans and share best practice.
Justin spoke about his time as a small business owner and highlighted the Government's initiatives to support SMEs; including business rate relief, National Insurance holidays and the removal of unnecessary red tape. These measures have led to the creation of more than 5,000 businesses across the region since 2010 and the a fall in unemployment in North Swindon of 47.3%.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "WIN Swindon is a fantastic initiative that allows small businesses to meet up, discuss their plans and share best practice. I was delighted to be able to highlight the positive steps that the Government has taken to support SMEs, what more we want to do and to share my personal experiences of running a business."
