North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson joined residents at The Jovial Monk for a quiz night in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The event was organised by The Ridge Coffee Club to support the charity and its work providing vital emergency assistance to seriously injured and very ill people.
The air ambulance can reach a patient 11 minutes from the first call, and makes an average of three life saving missions a day. It costs over £10,000 a day to keep the helicopters flying; equating to around £3.75 million a year. As it receives no central funding, events like the quiz night play a huge part in ensuring that the Air Ambulance is able carry out its important work saving lives.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “The Ridge Coffee Club is a very impressive and dedicated fund-raising team, having just raised more than £2500 for the new defibrillator which is outside the Jovial Monk. It is fantastic that they are continuing their money raising efforts and have chosen such a fantastic charity to support.”
