North Swindon MP Joins Swindon Indian Association For Diwali Celebration

Local MP Justin Tomlinson and his wife, Joanne, has joined members of Swindon's Indian Association for evening of celebrations to coincide with Diwali.

The event, held at the town's Punjabi Community Centre, brought together more than a hundred people to celebrate the Sikh and Hindu festival, often referred to as the 'Festival of Light'. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.

Justin also joined Leader of Swindon Borough Council, Cllr. David Renard, and the Mayor of Swindon, Cllr. Teresa Page, to talk to those attending about the importance of Diwali for a large number of people across the town.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was a real pleasure to join the celebrations for Diwali. So many people from across Swindon have come together to celebrate the Festival of Light and all concerned thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic night of good food, fantastic music and some excellent entertainment."
